Job Description

Job Summary

Important Notice

This Call for CVs is issued for the purpose of identifying and collecting CVs of qualified candidates for a proposed UNDP-funded project. The position is subject to project approval and funding confirmation. Submission of a CV does not constitute an offer of employment or guarantee of recruitment.

Job Purpose

The Project Manager will provide overall leadership and coordination for the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the project. The position will ensure that project activities are implemented effectively, on time, and in accordance with approved project objectives, AREP policies, and UNDP requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead overall project planning, implementation, coordination, and day-to-day management.
  • Develop and maintain project workplans, implementation schedules, and activity plans.
  • Coordinate with project staff, local authorities, communities, private-sector actors, and other stakeholders.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to project staff and consultants.
  • Ensure achievement of project objectives, outputs, targets, and deliverables.
  • Monitor implementation progress against approved plans, indicators, timelines, and resources.
  • Identify implementation challenges and ensure appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ensure effective coordination among livelihoods, agriculture, market linkage, skills mapping, MIS, M&E, and other project components.
  • Maintain regular communication with AREP management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Review technical and progress reports and ensure timely submission of quality deliverables.
  • Support preparation of donor reports, success stories, lessons learned, and project documentation.
  • Ensure proper project documentation and record keeping.
  • Ensure compliance with AREP and UNDP policies, safeguarding, PSEA, and other applicable requirements.
  • Perform other project-related duties assigned by management.

Job Requirements

         Qualifications and Experience      

  •            Advanced university degree in agriculture, rural development, economics, development studies, management, engineering, environmental science, or related fields.
  •           Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in managing multi-component livelihoods, agriculture, resilience, or community recovery projects.
  •           Proven experience in project planning, team supervision, coordination, quality assurance, and donor/partner reporting.
  •           Good English required; Dari and/or Pashto preferred.
