Job Description

Job Summary

The Field Supervisor is responsible for monitoring project activities at the field level, ensuring compliance with project standards, verifying data accuracy, and supporting quality implementation. The role plays a key part in tracking progress, identifying issues, and ensuring accountability to beneficiaries and donors.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Field Monitoring

  • Conduct regular field visits to project sites (schools, communities, distribution points).
  • Monitor ongoing activities to ensure they align with project plans and standards.
  • Verify beneficiary attendance, participation, and service delivery.
  • Observe and document implementation processes and practices.

2. Data Collection & Verification

  • Collect field data using approved tools (KOBO, paper forms, mobile data collection).
  • Verify the accuracy and reliability of data reported by field staff.
  • Support beneficiary registration, verification, and tracking.
  • Ensure proper documentation of activities and distributions.

3. Reporting

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly monitoring reports.
  • Document findings, challenges, and best practices from the field.
  • Report any irregularities, discrepancies, or incidents immediately.

4. Compliance & Accountability

  • Ensure activities comply with donor requirements (e.g., WFP standards) and organizational policies.
  • Monitor transparency and accountability during distributions or service delivery.
  • Support complaint and feedback mechanisms (CFM) at the community level.

5. Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with District Supervisors, teachers, and community representatives.
  • Share monitoring findings and recommendations with relevant teams.
  • Support communication between field teams and the central office.

6. Safeguarding & Protection

  • Ensure adherence to safeguarding, child protection, and gender-sensitive approaches.
  • Report any protection concerns or violations.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Education, Development Studies, or related field.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in field monitoring, data collection, or project implementation.
  • Experience with NGOs or UN-funded projects (especially WFP) is an advantage.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong observation and reporting skills.
  • Basic knowledge of data collection tools (KOBO, Excel).
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in remote and challenging environments.
  • Fluency in local languages (Pashto/Dari); basic English is an asset.

Key Deliverables:

  • Regular field monitoring reports
  • Verified and accurate field data
  • Documentation of field activities and findings
  • Reports on issues, risks, and recommendations

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Timeliness and quality of monitoring reports
  • Accuracy and reliability of collected data
  • Number of field visits conducted
  • Identification and reporting of issues
  • Compliance with project and donor standards

Working Conditions:

  • Based in field locations with frequent travel to communities and schools
  • May require extensive travel by foot or vehicle in remote areas
  • Work under challenging field and security conditions
